Tracking and detection of tampering of container cargo with eSeal
REDUCE FRAUD AND ENSURE PAYMENT OF TAX AND DUTIES
The eSeal system makes it very difficult to remove untaxed goods from a container during transit without leaving a trace. The high security seal acts as a replacement for conventional seals, but its passive RFID technology provides seal data and status, meaning customs authorities get a notification to say if a container has been opened. It is also tamperproof, and the disposable, one-time use seal cannot be replaced or removed without anybody knowing.
OPTIMIZE CUSTOMS PROCESSES AND REDUCE TRANSIT TIME
The system provides automatic updates on the status of all containers: when and where they were sealed, opened or whether they have been tampered with. It also provides automatic notification on containers that should be subject for detailed inspection, making the flow of containers through customs more efficient and faster.
ACHIEVE VISIBILITY THROUGHOUT THE SUPPLY CHAIN
The system enables fast and accurate exchange of information reducing handling cost and transit time, which benefits importers, logistic operators and the customs organizations. The secure and cost-effective way of tracking containers and providing sealing information facilitates trade and allows for fast-track border crossing solutions.
FIGHT SMUGGLING AND CORRUPTION
The high security sealing and monitoring makes it more difficult to tamper with containers/shipments during transport and unload illegal goods in-country without leaving a trace. The seal cannot be reattached once removed. It is activated by sealing the container, and its unique identifier number prevents any attempts to replace the seal, while notifications alert authorities when if a seal has been tampered with.
ELIMINATE FAKE SEALING OF CONTAINERS
The system provides an objective verification of when and by whom the container was correctly and securely sealed. In addition to the eSeal, both driver and vehicle tags can be used with the system, adding extra layers of security.
How it works
Shipping containers are sealed with the eSeal. This is a unique, high security container seal fully compliant with ISO 17712:2013 as well as C-TPAT with an integrated, passive Radio Frequency IDentification RFID chip.
RFID is wireless technology is used for identification of items by utilizing radio waves. The mounting of the eSeal is done as part of the normal sealing process, so no extra workflow is needed.
TRACK & TRACE
Registration of shipping containers is done via the Lyngsoe LIVE Logistics™ Infrastructure, which comprises both fixed-mounted and handheld data capture equipment, and RFID integration software. Registration of containers will, as a minimum, include ID, date/time, location and status of seal (open, closed or tampered). Registration is done at selected locations wherever the cargo/containers are handled.
As the truck pulls up at the border crossing, harbour gate or bonded area, the customs authority will obtain information about the container and status of the seal as well as the truck, and the driver if badge and vehicle tags are used. This will enable them to quickly identify whether there is a need for further inspection of the container. Customs authorities will also have the option to check individual containers at other locations using a handheld terminal.
SHARING OF DATA
All registrations are available via the cloud-based Container Tracking System, which receives, verifies, processes and stores tracking and tracing information and interfaces with other systems.
The system makes information available either via Web or system-to-system interfaces. If requested, the data can be shared among port authorities, port operators, customs, exporters, and even authorities in other countries.
CENTRAL MONITORING & MAINTENANCE SYSTEM
In addition to the main components, an important part of the system is the central monitoring and maintenance system that ensures highly reliable monitoring and maintenance of the entire data capture infrastructure.
High security is a key design feature in the Container Tracking System. Security and privacy of all data entered is guaranteed. User administration helps to control access to sensitive information, which can only be accessed by authorized personnel.
