Lyngsoe Systems and Datalogic Team up for Best in Class Baggage Handling Solution
Lyngsoe Systems, a world leader in the RFID (radio frequency identification) technology, and Datalogic, global specialists in barcode scanning and data capture systems, have teamed up to create a world leading baggage handling solution – the ATR+R.
Based on Datalogic’s ATR barcode scanning solution, the ATR+R now incorporates Lyngsoe Systems’ RFID technology, providing airports around the world with a new standard for baggage handling.
Providing industry leading read rate performance, the ATR+R is aimed at ensuring airports and airlines around the globe are compliant to IATA Resolution 753 and can provide an end-to-end baggage tracking.
With the expected high growth rates in passenger capacity, airlines around the world will require baggage handling solutions that can help prevent delays and support in meeting capacity demands.
As RFID technology will become a mandatory standard for baggage tracking in the aviation industry by 2020, the ATR+R from Datalogic and Lyngsoe Systems ensures airports can future proof their baggage handling systems.
Diego Nieto, General Manager for Transportation and the Logistics Industry at Datalogic, said: “Lyngsoe is one of the main players within the radio frequency identification (RFID) technology and for sure the leader in baggage tracking and sorting through RFID in the airport market with a significant number of installations. Datalogic, through this Partnership, further expands its already wide portfolio to support the entire baggage journey, offering end-to-end solutions with RFID technology. “
With its combination of barcode scanning and RFID technology, the ATR+R provides better performance than any other product in the market. Furthermore, present Datalogic ATR customers are able to upgrade their existing baggage handling infrastructure to incorporate the RFID technology.
“We are excited about working with Datalogic and thrilled to see the already overwhelming interest for the ATR+R,” said Michael Vistisen, Business Unit Director for Airports & Airlines at Lyngsoe Systems.
He added: “Datalogic has a long history of supplying high quality scanner products to the aviation market based on barcode reading. Lyngsoe is the frontrunner in baggage tracking based on RFID technology. By combining our capabilities, we have a unique position in the market to deliver increased tracking capabilities and help airports and airlines around the world set the new standard for baggage handling.”
Due to its combination of barcode and RFID, the ATR+R is a comprehensive baggage handling solution that offers unrivaled read rates, and as it uses software to control the RF signal and handle the RFID data, it requires no physical shielding so has a small footprint.
The ATR+R enables airports and airlines to achieve:
