Track & trace

Track & trace of postal items throughout the entire postal logistics chain provides considerable benefits to all parties involved, e.g. management, employees and customers.

Lyngsoe Systems offers an advanced and effective track & trace solution of postal products, such as letters, parcels, flats and registered mail. The system can identify, track and monitor all types of postal items with unique RFID and barcodes throughout the entire logistics system.

No manual handling and real-time informationParcel on sorter

RFID tags can be attached to individual items which will automatically be registered every time they pass selected strategic congestion points, such as weighing stations, without any manual handling. Unique tag ID and an exact time stamp are gathered and collected in a central database system for further use, such as on a web interface that can be used by customers to get real-time information on their items, or by postal management to analyse quality of service and handling and operation of items.

Why choose RFID instead of barcodes?

Compared to barcodes, RFID needs no facing of barcodes and no manual registrations with handheld barcode scanners, and since it involves no manual handling, use and benefit of the system are not linked to any individual. Automatic identification and registration of RFID tags also saves a lot of labour and the read rate is increased compared to using barcodes. RFID equipment can also strengthen excisting barcode systems by combining the two technologies.

Indisputable documentation

The RFID system is 100% objective and if monitored, removes any doubt about when specific key handover actions took place, e.g. when the product was handed over from the customer to the post. Upon request, the system can deliver indisputable documentation of postal delivery performance to the customer. Furthermore, since the data is shared between the post and the customer, doubts about adequate documentation can be fully dispelled.

Benefits of using RFID for monitoring individual products

  • Full visibility of all products in the logistics flow
  • Knowing the location and priority of products facilitates early warning of problems in the sorting process and logistics chain
  • Knowing the location and priority of product items improves prompt sorting process handling
  • Knowing the location of items makes it possible to improve the sorting process and supply chain efficiency
  • No facing of parcels required at sorting centres as with barcodes
  • The read rate at sorting centres can be significantly increased compared to barcodes
