International quality measurements

The AMQM™ (Automatic Mail Quality Measurements) system, witch is developed and maintained by Lyngsoe Systems has since 1996 been used to measure quality of service and is a key component in calculation of terminal dues (the fees postal operators pay to each other for the delivery of cross-border mail) that the IPC (International Post Corporation) handles for 24 of the national posts in Europe, Asia Pacific and North America.

The Universal Postal Union (UPU) who set the rules for postal mail exchanges also supports the system and, in 2004, called for a cost-oriented, country specific terminal dues system with link to quality of service to be fully implemented no later than 1 January 2014. So far UPU have assisted an additional 31 countries to invest in the AMQM™ system, so the system today covers a total of 55 UPU countries.

No manual handling and 100% objective data

Lyngsoe Systems quality measurement solutions are based on RFID; the perfect solution for quality measurements as it involves no manual handling and provides objective data with no possible opportunity for interference from any postal employee.

Automatic data collection with RFID test letterspostal test letter

Data is automatically collected by sending an unmarked and indistinguishable RFID-tagged test letter in the mail flow and collecting exact time stamps from strategic congestion points, such as the entrance and exit gates, conveyors, sorting machines, etc.

Data is automatically collected by sending an unrecognisable RFID-tagged test letter in the mail flow and having exact time stamps collected from strategic congestion points such as entrance and exit gates, conveyors, sorting machines, etc.

Easy processing of data from international test letters

eDACS is a web-based analysis software system for reporting international mail test data and provides a means for each post to look at the link-specific performance of all international test letter data from both inbound and outbound mail. eDACS also offers a variety of report outputs, such as test letter journeys and the percentage of on time or delayed mail over a selected period of time.

Help identifying bottlenecks

Apart from generating reports, eDACS can also be used as an analyzing tool to help the post identify problems and bottlenecks in mail service.

One system – many purposes

The AMQM™ system handles not only international mail, but can also be used for many other purposes, such as domestic quality of service measurements, asset management and process monitoring inside a specific sorting centre. The greater the number of reading points installed, the more detailed the information about the tags whereabouts will be, and the easier a potential problem can be identified and solved. As tags come in various shapes and sizes, and can be attached to virtually everything, in principle AMQM™ gives you the opportunity to get very detailed tracking on just about anything.
