Domestic quality of service measurements
The AMQM™ (Automatic Mail Quality Measurements) system has been used for improving quality of service in the postal business since 1994. Five Scandinavian countries initially implemented the system but since 1996 it has also been used within the IPC (International Post Corporation) member countries to document whether postal operators stay within the agreed delivery times for international mail handling. AMQM forms the basis to determine the terminal dues payments – creating a link between meeting certain quality targets, and the payment for having the next postal service handle/distributethe mail.
Domestic systems in national posts with multiple benefits
Today, 27 national postal operators, including Australian Post, Deutche Post, Royal Mail and Saudi Arabia have a domestic AMQM™ system for measuring quality of service in various parts of their supply chain. The system is being used for many different purposes, such as quality of service measurements, asset management and process monitoring inside a specific sorting centre or distribution centre, or between shifts of responsibility in general. The system can also contribute to identifying bottlenecks, removing unwanted defects and ensuring revenue from key customers; by documenting quality of service and not letting low price be the only business driver.
One platform – many purposes
Every AMQM™ system is customized and modified to meet the post’s specific needs. This is possible because the system is based on a single platform and has a number of different modules and applications that can be added to serve a particular need. The system is also flexible around a post’s individual site requirements; some posts only have a couple of sites where they collect data, others have more than a hundred sites covered and one site alone do have over fifty fixed reading points.
100% objective data and less manual handling
Lyngsoe Systems quality measurement solutions are based on RFID; the perfect solution for quality measurements as it involves no manual handling and provides objective data with no possible opportunity for interference from any postal employee.
How it works
Sending an unmarked and indistinguishable RFID-tagged test letter in the mail flow or attached to assets such as roll containers, secure shipments or trucks collects data automatically. When the tag passes selected strategic congestion points, such as entrance and exit gates, conveyors, sorting machines, etc., the tags unique ID and an exact time stamp is gathered and collected in a central database system for further use.
Secure data and tailor-made software
All data is collected and stored in a secure system. Further processing of data is handled by standard software, customized for the purpose with a wide range of options for different reporting, and advanced tracking and analyzing features. Lyngsoe’s standard software application for domestic quality-of-service handling, QSM, is currently running in 19 countries/national posts, and is proven to be a flexible, continuously updated application that has the capability to process a huge amount of data into useful information for the end user.
Easy sharing of quality results with a web-based solution
With the Lyngsoe software all quality measurement data is accessible via a web interface protected behind a username and password. The software also makes it possible to split or compare data for individual or organisational needs by, for example, geography, different time periods, business unit, etc.
Further sharing of quality results and reports in your organisation is made easy as all individuals have their own username preset to access the exact data and reports they need.
