Roll container, tray tracking and monitoring
Attaching RFID tags onto load carriers offers many advantages to the posts. With just one click on the computer display, it is possible to establish which and how many load carriers, such as roll containers, are situated in a specific centre, and whether there is enough to start the day’s production.
One tool - many possibilities
Simply attaching tags onto roll containers opens up instant management possibilities, such as providing information on where a roll container has been mislaid, their cycle time, roll container balancing in the logistic network and much more. The asset management system is based on a single platform and has a number of different modules and applications that can be added to serve a particular need, or customized and modified to meet the post’s specific needs.
One use of the Asset Management System - roll container management
Post Denmark has implemented the Lyngsoe Asset Management System for managing roll containers in their nationwide logistic network that covers both collection and distribution hubs as well as sorting centres. The project includes the RFID tagging of more than 36,000 roll containers and covering all gates with RFID equipment. In this particular case, the Asset Management system deployment was able to take advantage of the existing RFID infrastructure, as all hubs were already equipped with RFID hardware.
Post Denmark uses the handheld terminal module to consign roll containers while the asset management solution was also supplied with software that linked into the interfaces of existing systems – such as SAP and legacy systems of Post Denmark - for route planning, volume forecast, etc.
Benefits of tagging the roll containers

- Identification of the precise number of roll containers and their whereabouts optimizes production planning and represents an increased value of the pool of roll containers - for Post Denmark this amounted to DKK 45 million (US$7.75 million)
